Default Shift surround for the RD1

I am sure a lot of people here are familier with Xorro's beautiful Tib. If you look at her interior shots, she has a really nice aluminum piece around the shift boot that came from the F2 evolution. Well, I was poking around the net today and found something similar...

If you are interested at all.. here is the link to the site that sells it.. along with a bigger and nicer pic... I like it, but I am probably going to buy the one for eh Citroen and modify my shift console to fit it...

It's a good find... I've considered one of those before but the chrome is a lil' too much for my liking... A brushed alloy finish would be nicer IMO.

That is a nice find, but I too would rather have the brushed look.

As it is aluminum.. it is probably just polished... I wonder if a machine shop could make it look brushed for you?
Personally, even though I already have something similar in my car for the Mustang bullit, I am going to redo it with the one for the renault Clio 2001+

Yes, I know I will have to really work at redoing my shift console.. but I think it fits in well. The mustang unit just annoys me with how it screws in. The screw holes are too close to the edge of the surround and project slightly beyond where the metal curves away.

Mine for now:

If I'm right, this just attaches to the top of the existing plastic suround. I could look at making something in ally for us if your interested. I was looking at making something like this b4 but I was going to make it take a round shift boot.

I just remembered that I have a Juntos shifter knob so brushed or polished will go with it.

Col, you would make a surround that would fit over the existing one? If so, count me in already buddy..laugh.gif:

Col, if you are going to make a copy of the plastic one the RD2 has.. I would love it. I can easily adapt a shift console to make it work.
