Are these still common in a lot of street cars? I feel like they were big back in the early 2000's when the rice scene was at it's all time highest.

Why do you need to be told by a light when to shift? At least in a street car.
Now if you're wrapped in fire suit, racing gear and earplugs, then I see needing a little reminder. It's hard to concentrate on keeping a car, that accelerates from 0-100 mph in a fraction of a second mind you, under control while also wresting a sequential shifter, especially when the engine is loud enough to cause damage to hearing.
