My trunk still leaks water when there is a heavy downpour, but leaks less than it use to. I think that the car was in a wreck, just

to let u know. I sealed around where you stick the key in the trunk with silicone, sealed all around the tail lights on the outside

as well as all around the seals on the inside of the car. I also caulked around the rubber grommets in the wheel well. What else

could it be. The only part that is wet is the wheel well, therefore the carpet isn't getting wet so I know that the weaterstripping is

still good. I also adjusted the hatch down as low as it will go. The leak is coming from somewhere channelling down the metal of

the trunk area, missing the carpet and landing in the wheel well. Help me out, so that when I tear the trunk apart, I know where

to look. Someone said that vents on the side of the trunk may be the cause?? Let me know thanks a ton

have you even tore apart your trunk area to see if the vents have the missing louvers?

you say it is worse during a heavy downpour but you can't see where it is coming from and the only spot is the wheel well?

d0od, it's massive condensation making its way to the lowest point in your trunk, hence only the wheel well location.

water vapors are running under your carpet and meeting there.

take out the side carpet and see if you are missing louvers. they are think rubber pieces approximately 1.5" x 4" attached to a white frame that is the rear vents. both sides have them so take out both side carpets and see which one is missing.

I had this same problem , on the left side and when i took out the left side carpet there was lterally a lake underneath the rear vent on the left side.

thanks, is that a common problem in the tiburon, i hear a lot of people on here have that problem. so i just take the 2 carpet panels around the trunk out, right? why do the side panels leak, do they rot or what?? thanks

you will see why they easily leak once you have them apart, stop asking to be spoonfed man.

If you are asking a question, use a question mark.

I've been working with these cars for what, 9 years now almost? No, not a common problem at all, I've heard of 2 or 3 instances of this issue.

Also, go into your USER CP and update your profile with a location, at least the STATE you live in.

I took out the carpet and see where the side vents are for. I am going to try and caulk around them as the car has been in a wreck before and im sure water is leaking through the cracks of the bumper. I see some black louvers on both sides, but water can get through still. Is there any other way to seal them? I felt wetness where the vents are on both sides and a lot of rocks that have came in through the years, but no big puddles of standing water. I am going to caulk up from the inside and that should help, right? Let me know thanks,,
