Leather Seats Ripping
Well i knew this day would come when my leather seats will start ripping 02.gif
I should have been more careful and covered the seats with a good seat cover but I wasnt.
My question to the rdtiburon community what kind of options do I have that wont involve me taking out a loan to pay for a new leather seat.
Will it cost a pretty penny to get it redone?
its only on the side of the seat.
THank you and appreciate it.

It depends how bad it is. They do make a leather / vinyl repair kit that you can pick up anywhere. I found one of these kits at Wal-Mart.
its pretty bad (well in my view ) its roughly a 1inch by 3 inch rip on the side

I would take it to an upholstery shop and get a quote to get it properly fixed. As the rip is still small, it should not cost too much.
has anyone on this forum had to get their seats redone and roughyl how much did it cost you?
For one seat, it'll probably be $300-500ish which is my guess to get the entire thing reupholstered. I got quoted $400 in the GSX to redo both cloth seats, so I would suppose leather would be around two times that... find out.
Once you get it done, PLEASE use Tanner's Leather Preserver every two-three weeks or something similar. My Corvette's leather interior is stock from 26 years ago. The previous owner took very good care of the car (garaged) and used that stuff ever since the car was bought. It still looks showroom. I highly recommend it, I use it now as well.

well, that is why I suggested taking it to a shop. Chances are they can clean it up and sew it so you would barely be able to tell. AND it would be a lot cheaper than recovering. Can't hurt to at least have them look at it and give you a price... but I would look into it before the rip gets worse
