Default Installed Sony XPlod

I got the Sony XPlod in-dash minidisc player last week and installed it this weekend.

The instructions and mounting stuff that came from Crutchfield did not work too well. The wiring harness was perfect, but the adapter did not make the unit sit well in the dash opening. The face plate surround that came with it would not fit either. What I ended up doing was removing the factory mounting brackets and screwing them onto the new unit (fit perfectly, but I had to use the screws that came with the Sony). That fit perfectly, except, our center consoles are angled a little bit, so I used a spacer on the left side and now everything is flush.

Sound is awesome, even with the factory speakers. I also like the display, although it is a bit bright. Any way to turn this down? There was no dimmer connection on it.

Pics will follow, but I need access to a digital camera first.

Overall, a fun project.

Oh, and right now it came with a wireless remote free. You'd think that would be the most useless thing for a car, but it's not. I don't think I would have paid for it, but it's definitely a good add-on (especially the mute feature: for drive through, tolls, etc).

later,
a

I've got the Sony ABP CD-Player and if the menu is anything like mine you can adjust the brightness. Just repeatedly push the menu button until your options are listed for brightness, then select up/down/left/right to change your settings. Hope this helps.
