Default How much money do you have into your stereo system

I never really saw the concept of spending a ton of cash on the stereo. Maybe a grand to 1500 at the most. Nice head unit, upgrade the factory speakers, a decent sub and amp combo, and you have yourself something that sounds good while cruising. People who have HUGE systems and pound the bass everywhere they go just seems ridiculous to me. Anyway, those of you who have stereo systems...how much do you think you have into it?

I have about $2100 Canadian into mine. Infinity kappa front and rear speakers, infinity kappa 4 channel amp, JVC double din touch screen KW-AVX840 and omg the sound quality is amazing. No sub yet. Considering getting 10" kappa sub to finish off the system with a 1 channel kappa amp.

But as for my system right now, it is incredible and I love the sound so much.

-$10

I sold my head unit, and the stock speakers are collecting dust bunnies on my shelf. That is another few lbs shaved off!

Currently not a whole lot. Biggest system in the Accent was about $2000. My systems always get stolen, so meh...

Hard to say, since I bought some of my stuff from friends second-hand and other stuff at crazy discounted prices. From what I've calculated, I've spent about $1300CDN on my system. It includes an Alpine CDE-102 deck, Infinity Reference 6x9's in the rear and 6.5'' components with tweeters in the front. Those are powered by an Audiobahn A6004J 4-channel amp. The subs are a couple of 10'' Rockford Fosgate P1's (cheap, but sound better than many other setups I've seen) powered by a Sony Xplod 800W amp (model is XM-1252GTR, I think?). I bought the subs and Sony amp used from a friend about 3 years ago and they've been pumping hard ever since. I also have some generic brand 2 Farad capacitor to help level out the voltage. I included the cost of wiring kits in there because those things can get pricy too.

People should never buy their audio gear from big-box stores like Futureshop/Bestbuy because the mark-up is ridiculous. I bought my Infinity speakers, Audiobahn amp and capacitor from Sonic Electronix (website is http://www.sonicelectronix.com) with all the necessary wiring for ~600$. I have a seat-post mount for the iPad that I use as my media center for the car which is pretty sweet. Overall, I'm really impressed with everything I have for the price I paid. I think I need a new (more powerful) alternator though, since this one makes noise over the speakers when I rev up, perhaps due to a bad regulator. I've only had that alternator in there for a few months.
