Default Bridging an amp.. Question about ohms

Ok.. So I always thought if you bridged an amp (2 channels, 4 ohm each), that the 1 combined channel would be 4 ohms and If you had 1 sub w/ 4 ohm VC, it would run at 4.. I just recently heard that if you bridge 2 channels, it will drop the ohms to 2..

Is this correct?

I thought I had most of this stereo shit figured out, but something always comes up ;/
