Default Bought a new head unit

Figured I would upgrade and go for a touch screen. This was the old one, which I've had close to 2 years without a single issue:

Upgraded to this:

Its a Dual XDVD8181. I got it online for only $150. I know its kind of a no name, but its made by Jenson (another lower end manufacturer), but I read alot of reviews about it and everyone says it has the best picture out of any other flip screen on the market. Even the pro's rated it as having the best picture on the market. So we'll see. If it craps out on me after a few months....I still have the other one to throw in. So no biggie. biggrin.gif

Yeah, most of Dual's stuff really sucks, but if this one is supposed to be great it won't hurt to spend $150 on it. I would rub off the branding though.

I don't know about their car audio, but as far as home eletronics, my boom-box and first portable CD player were dual and are still going strong after "ump-teen" years.

So, I ended up canceling my order on the Dual, and bought a Clarion instead. It was $300, but I figured I would go with something thats a name brand unit and has really good sound quality:

If nothing else you get more cool points for the Clarion. Sound quality probably is better also. I had some Jensen amps when I was just getting started and they offered good value for the money but they were not great, and they REALLY didn't put out their advertised power.

Dont really care about SQ through the HU, since I'm running a 5 channel Soundstream Tarantula amp. So absolutely no power at all is coming from the HU to any of the speakers or subs. smile.gif

If the HU has a crappy sound processor doesn't matter WHAT you are using to power the speakers headshake.gif
