APC gauge install
ok...I installed the APC speedglow gauges about 3 weeks ago. Had problems with the speedo being too fast...fixed it. The first warm day here in Chicago I went to use my A/C and umm... the temperature knob is stuck on the cold side and hot air comes out. That control is mechanical instead of electrical like the blower speed knob and the output selector knob.
After I found the right instructions on the net...where you have to disconnect the heater accuator cable, it was too late. I guess when removing my dash, I yanked that cable too hard. I havent' dug around down by the center kick panel yet. I'm thinking about taking it to the dealer to have them fix it but is that more trouble than it's worth? If I've lost anyone, let me know. Thanks

If you've found the instructions on the web as to how to take the cable off down below, all is not lost.
You should be able to take the cable off down in the footwell, then remove the dash, you should hopefully be able to reattach it to the heat selector knob.

Man, I have my face gauges coming in with my group buy and all these post about problems with the speedameter and what-not is starting to give me second thoughts about trying to install it myself. But not to try something in the beginning is worse than the error resulting finish of the end, the regrets and the "I wish I had" thoughts will eat you away from accomplishing anything and everything else. WTF am I talking about, anyway, to all that have went through the process, was it worth it in the end?????
I had the same problem. Get on the driver side floor and look to your right you will see a big white dial looking thing that is what controlls switching from cold to hot after playing with it for a while in conjunction with playing with the hot/cold knob you will be able to fix it in a jiff if this does not work you pinched the cable up in the dash, you can tell if you pinched the wire by grabing the wire and then turning the knob if you do not feel the cable going back and forth in your hand that means the cable is caught up somewhere in the dash. Hope this helps
Thanks man, that does help. I'll try that after work. I needed someone to tell me that could be done and that it's not something worse. Will let you know.
KoreanShark: I take it you're getting the SR gauges. I can't say anything about those but I love my APC gauges. About half-way through installing them I'd wish that I had a pro do it (not to mention when it was done my speedo was 10mph fast and I was "revving" at 2krpm rolleyes.gif ) I had to take everything apart and redo the needles. Now that it's over, I have the satisfaction of doing it myself and having a good looking product that only took up an afternoon of my time.
Bottom line, if your comfortable working on your car, go for it. Also, total install with fixing mistakes was about 4 hours.

c'est mal...tres mal. last night/this afternon, whatever. I checked out the cable to my hvac temp control. Well, I found the problem, I took off hte cable and then moved the temp switch down where it connects to the cable...it was very loose. Loose usually doenst mean well, so I unsrewed one of the pieces. I was able to pull off the switch and notice that the shaft of the switch was broken, in other words it looked really xspensive. I did, however manage to take a heated up screwdriver and turn the broken shaft so that cold air now blows out of my vents. So, i'm gonna take the car to the dealer in a few days and hopefully bs my way to an uncostly repair. if you understand any of his, congrats. If not, k.

glad to see you found teh problem and have it basically solved i have the apc indiglos in my car as well and well had a fun time installing thenunfortunettly my gas guage needle does not move. hehe been like that for a couple months now..havent had teh tiem to tajke my dash apart and push the needle in properly.. i love how they look at night and everyone else who have seen them love them as well. just a nice pain in the ass to install im sure that would be lik ethat for any guage install.. just be paitent take your time and double check everything before you bolt her all together smile.gif
I had the same problem, I fixed it by getting on the floor and finding the little yellow unit that the temp gauge pulls. The steel cable that is connected to it is caught up somewhere in the dash. Get a pliers and yank on it. It'll sort it out quick!
