Default Anyone have an 8" sub in their car?

Im not looking for overpowering bass. I just want to round out my factory system with a little more bass. I was thinking about getting this but I wonder if I would even be able to hear anything since it's just an 8" sub.

I would prefer something more like this. Looks a whole lot cleaner. I believe you can choose from 8", 10", 12" single or dual 3/4" MDF for $129.00! Plus, I would go with a good quality amp/subwoofer. Only if cost isn't an issue.

I had 2 RE Audio 8's in my Civic. Was more than enough to rattle the license plate if I wanted to.

I was gonna go with an 8" sub but decided on a JBL powered 12". It was loud and rattled everything. I got rid of it and now just have a HiFonics 10" sub. Not as loud as the JBL but there's less rattle and it sounds good inside. Plus it takes up very little room.

That 8" will be as loud as a 10 or even maybe a 12 due to it being in a bandpass. Those types of enclosures are meant to be boomy and not have very tight bass like a sealed or ported enclosure.

^ false. Bandpass boxes with low group delay can be just as tight/precise as a sealed box . . . but you have to design it well on purpose. It's easy to make a "one note" bandpass, which is why they have a reputation for sounding that way.

But bandpass enclosures are also efficient, which is why they can get loud. From the amazon reviews, that box looks like a solid bet for $100.

Greetings, Whether what you have listed or another sub, 8" will be more than enough to fill in the gaps if you will. My self, I hate those big ole boomy sub cars. I always ask the question, "when did a kick drum become a lead instrument?"

I have 2 10" Kickers in my car and I feel like it's over kill because everything rattles. I dont care about showing off or or broadcasting my stuff a mile away so I'm thinking about going down to either a single 10 or maybe even an 8 also. I miss having room in my hatch for stuff too. Right now my sub box takes up almost the entire thing.

The reviews are really good which might actually go farther than our opinions.

That being said I don't think I would buy this. I have always been happier with buying matched components separately. If something blows up there's nothing weird about replacing a component. If one component isn't performing the way you had hoped you can upgrade the weak link.

This will probably round out your bass pretty well as long as you aren't expecting too much though.

My friend has that exact sub in his car. It sounds better than my $1200 system with 2 12's. I was beyond amazed when I heard it.
