I just bought a pair of as65v and as69v speakers, installed the rear ones fine, but mounting the 65s in front isnt working out the way I had hoped. I removed the old speaker, then when going to replace it with the new one, neither the speaker's nor the bracket's screw holes line up.
Am I missing an important thing or am I just plain screwed, and either need to get a new bracket(or better)?

Aren't you suppose to drill new holes on the bracket when installing speakers?

I had to drill new holes in the speaker basket to line up with the OEM mounting holes. You should have plenty of room to drill some proper holes without damaging the speaker.

The stock size is actually 5.75 if i remember right. Most just use 6.5 though because of price and availability.

it fits fine if you do this...

1. Remove OEM speaker leaving the plastic ring/spacer in place.

2. Put new speaker in place, attaching one or 2 screws, whatever you can get to fit in and line up.

Here comes the really hard part.

3. Push on the plastic to make the next hole line up, insert and tighten screw.

4. Push in on the plastic near the next hole, until everything lines up, insert and tighten screw.
