Would you call the Veloster Turbo a sports car?
The Genesis is by all means considered a sports car but what about the V Turbo? Is hard to call a FWD coupe equipped with forced induction as a sports car, or is it just "sporty?"

It is a sporty econo box
|
^I agree. Although, I would say the Tiburon looks like a sports car and the Veloster does not.
|
I would say no
I would also say the tib isn't either Sports implies being able to be used in a sporting event neither car brings a edge over the competition in any form In stock form they don't excel(heh get it excel) in hp, handling, or braking. A fancy looking eco sh*t box is still a sh*t box |
Damn...you guys are harsh. Where's the Hyundai love? :ughug:

Some other superior racing machines that share its suspension layout:

Don't get me wrong, I looked into getting a VT, though I wasn't in denial, I knew it was going to be a sporty econo box, which was kind of what I wanted, something with good mpg, that wasn't a gutless wonder. But they outpriced themselves (hard to get below MSRP) and I ended up with a 2.0t sonata (well below invoice). If you could spend $500 more and get a decked out sonata 2.0t vs a VT ultimate, wouldn't you? And I am not sure if they are even out yet, I quit looking into them as they were in higher demand then regular V's and they were so close to MSRP. Still not too bad on mpg, and decent balls, and surprisingly luxurious and TON of space. |
Nope, even after owning mine for 2 weeks now I wouldn't consider it a sports car.
Even after the suspension and SRI.. Car is still a sporty econo-box but a very good one at that in my opinion. After the mods I have done so far the car has woken up quite a bit and handles much better. After the dealer incentives, I got mine under MSRP so I was happy. If I could have gotten a turbo sonata or optima for the same price, I might have done that but I couldn't but am very happy with my decision. I find myself finding something new every day that I enjoy. I really liked my 01 Tiburon but a few things were missing from it. The Veloster Turbo has all of those things (except indy rear suspension like the tib had) but that doesn't bother me. |
Agree to everything said, however there's nothing wrong with an econobox looking like one. Hell, the Tiburon looked like a Porsche. I passed one driving on the road at dusk the other night and remembered just how incredibly sweet it looks, especially the taillights and the reflections in the curves.
The New Tib and Veloster look like regular cars. Although, I have been seeing quite a lot of Velosters recently. |
It's just a dirty great re-hash of the s-coupe.
-Economy car engine in regular version -Turboed economy car engine in high end version -sports tuned economy car suspension -interior gadgets abound -a bit cheaper than most of the competition It's a classic case of style over substance. Not my cup of tea and downright disappointing considering the amount of hype and the length of the waiting lists to buy one. :cent: |
