Turbo upgrades for the N/A velosters
 

So everyone knows about the turbo V's coming out, right? But what about us N/A folks? Wheres our love? Anyone know of any kits coming out for us? If not, I may have to "borrow" someones turbo from their OEM turbo V...if you get what I mean.... :P :Paranoid2: :biggrin:

borrowing the turbo from the turbo V will be MUCH more complicated than you think.. Especially with the advanced turbo system in the TurboV... It would be easier to throw a remote turbo system on a N/A V with low boost than borrow parts from its turbo counterpart..



with the 11:1 compression, you won't really want to push much boost, either.



Do you know if it has an aluminum or iron block?



You would also have to do some type of tuning (the most important) most likely with the GDI/CVVT system, the stock computer would need to be tuned vs. simple piggyback to do it right.



Can it be done? of course.. Will it be harder and more expensive than boosting a Beta (RD/RD2) ? YES!



To bring it up to the stock power of the Turbo V, it wont be nearly as complicated and expensive as trying to get the Non-Turbo V to power levels of around 300 or more since you are only at a 60hp deficit.

I've always wondered about turbocharging GDI engines. The airflow in the head is so carefully controlled from the factory, what would happen when you boost it?

^ Thats why tuning for the new Gen Coupes is going to be a challenge right off the bat. Its GDI, so adding alot more HP and tuning it properly will get interesting.
