Remove Carbon from Exhaust Tip

Just curious if there are any recommended cleaners to use to easily remove carbon build up on the exhaust tips?

That would be a losing battle mate. Perhaps try a brake cleaner or something, but it will blacken up again within 20 miles of driving?

Cars make soot, and it deposits in the tailpipe. A little. All of them. This may get a little less-bad after the engine is fully worn in, but unless you have chunks of build-up back there do NOT worry about it. There are a few products you can apply to the tips that will let the carbon wipe right off with a damp cloth. I wouldn't know what they are because I have cleaned my exhaust approximately* zero times to remove carbon build up.

*Maybe once or twice when it was new?

I usually clean the outside of my exhaust tip every time I wash the windows on my car.

I have to lightly sand the rust off my MS exhaust tip every now and then. It's a hard knock life.

I just use car wash soap and an old mitt to clean it when I wash my car. shines up fine each time so far.

Using the same mitt or sponge on the body that you use on the rims or exhaust will cause micro abrasions and scratches in the clear coat. You should always use the cleanest, newest, best condition possible of sponges or mitts on the paint.

If it's metal I use a plastic scrub pad and mineral spirits.

I use an "Old" one for the exhaust, not the same one as I use on the paint. :beercheers:

Errm, aren't all exhaust tips metal? Unless you have some crazy bosuzoko angled glass pack.
