2012 Hyundai Veloster teaser - Click above to enlarge
Let the speculation end: The 2012 Hyundai Veloster will have three conventional forward-hinged doors. We also know the Veloster will have a direct-injected engine (we're pretty sure it will displace 1.6 liters), an available dual-clutch gearbox, hit an estimated 40 miles per gallon and will come with Bluetooth connectivity.
Also, note the split rear glass of the open rear hatchback, a similar arrangement to the Toyota Prius and Honda CR-Z, among others. Clearly, Hyundai hasn't spilled all its beans just yet, so we'll just have to wait until the start of the Detroit Auto Show this Monday, January 10 for the full reveal. In the meantime, feel free to continue the speculation in Comments.

I can't tell if they kept the FUGLY rear design that leaked on the internet a while back. It looks like maybe not. Fix the rear end and I could see myself wanting this with a 200hp turbo 1.6l (or REALLY wanting it with a 274hp turbo 2.0l.

knew it was
4dr but a 4dr wouldn't be considered a Tiburon replacement so WTF. There is a distinction between a Sporty Coype and a grocery-getter...
Love the rear hatch.
Hope it's curvy and not bland. Let's hope it's quick so it can rival some Civics. Maybe some Scions as well.

If it has three doors, I find that silly. Why wouldn't they do one side what they do to another? Plus 4 doors is better so why deter sales by removing one functional door??
Could be a hatch copy, but I think the Veloster came first. It has been planned and delayed since 2006.That being said, I think they are both copying the Prius.

Just when it looked like Korea had a solid line of new cars coming out, they had to throw a brick into the mix......oh well. "3rd" door= big, ugly fail to me, but i'm sure plenty of people will go for it anyway.
EDIT: On a side note....will that keep insurance companies from considering it a sports car?
