Not sure if this belongs in this forum or not but here goes. I just got my tiburon a couple weeks ago and noticed something that annoys me. The wipers are working fine but they seem to stop too far up on the windshield.

I had a 2000 elantra for a few years and didn't notice this and I'm suspecting that they share the same wipers and motor assembly so can't really see why it does this. Also when the wipers start they first go down until they are at a normal position then they go through their cycle.

So in other words they're stopped about 4inches up, button is pushed they go down 4inches then go through their cycle only to stop high again. Is this normal?

Thanks

Doesn't sound normal. You can easily adjust the windshield wipers by loosening the nut (lift up the black cover piece at the base of the wiper to reveal the nut). It's probably an 8mm. Loosen it, adjust your wipers for a good starting position, and then tighten it all the way. It may just be loose.

My wipers worked themselves loose one time, and starting wiping off the end of the windshield. Just tightened it and it fixed it right away, never a problem after.

I don't think they need an adjustment since the wipers don't travel off the windshield at their top travel. I know what you mean about taking off the arm since I had to do it on my elantra when the wipers seized, but this is different, the travel just seems weird.

It might just be that the whole shebang needs to be clocked a few degrees. It should be simple. No harm trying.

I'll pull off the plastic piece on top of the wiper motor and have a look. Probably everything should be greased anyway.

I seem to remember seeing some sort of stop switch under there. Maybe the stop switch is adjusted improperly triggering an early stop. Grease it, adjust the stop point, and make sure there's nothing blocking anything down there.

I took off the arms, linkage and motor and there doesn't seem to be any stop switch. the motor has 3 contacts inside which seem non adjustable. I'm thinking that maybe someone in the past replaced the motor and the arm and replaced it with one from another car. The arm on the motor is pretty short that would account for the limited travel of the wipers.
