When you remove battery from 2K1 Tibby...
I will finally get my KORE CAI next week or so after 3 months of wait. Anyway, I heard that if one removes a battery terminal cables in a wrong way, it can screw up an air bag sensor or another sensors. So I was wondering if this step is right steps to remove a battery from the Tib.
When removing a battery 1) Take out a negative terminal cable first 2) Then take out a positive terminal cable When installing a battery 1) Put a positive terminal cable first. 1) Then put a negative terminal cable. Does it sound OK to you guys? [ December 10, 2001: Message edited by: Silver_Tibby ] |
Sounds backwards to me.
I thought you disconnect the positive first, then the negative...just like when you're using jumper cables. |
When I put in the SR gauges, I disconnected just the Positive and then when finished hooked it back up, no air bag light

I see. Then I think I should remove positive terminal cable first. By the way, is positive terminal cable one that have red plastic cap on it?
Thanks all! |
Yes.
Red = positive. Black = negative. The red plastic cap should also have a tell-tale + moulded into it. smile.gif |
i removed the positive ONLY each time i removed the gauge cluster, and i removed the negative ONLY this past weekend when installing my power antenna. NO AIR BAG CEL. i think that it makes very little difference which side of the circuit is broken first if you are removing the battery, the only difference seems to be if you pull the gauge cluster WITHOUT first disconnecting the positive terminal.

When removing a battery, always remove the positive first.
When installing a battery, always install the positive LAST. If doing electrical work on the car, remove the POSITIVE cable. |
Thanx for help everybody. My KORE CAI better come this week happy.gif
