Dont think there was a Tib in 96.
Thought 97 was the first year.

Anyway, from 97-99 not to much change to the body. Different headlight config. I'd get a 00 or 01.

'96 = '97. Just like how we can buy 2003 Tiburons even though it should be a 2002.

The new engine is only in the 2003.

To be honest, look for what year body styling you like best. 1st gen or 2nd gen. Remember the older ones are out of warranty and you could also pick them up cheaper. BUT they also might have more kms and are older.

Its totally fair what Viper said. But remember too, with the most support (2003) is going to the V6, from what I hear anyway. Then again there are tonnes of parts already out for the I4 from previous generations.
