I have a 1999 tiburon. Auto. I have headers, AEM Cold Air Intake and full exhaust. Im looking for a way to get more power. Mainly off the line. Turbo and tranny swap is out of the question due to lack of being rich.
What can I do?

OMFG, search for stuff..

you can do TONS of stuff..

first, what exhaust?, what size?

BBTB (Big Bore Throttle Body) 61-65mm
BIM (Bore Intake Manifold)
over and underdrive pulleys
1.8L intake cam OR 268,272 hi cams.
port/polish head
do some weight reduction ( will help with acceleration) CF hood, remove rear seats, spare tire, and cover, etc.
light 15"-16" rims, high performance tires
50 shot wet nitrous
get SAFC II to lean it up a bit.
get some 1.8L pistons (higher compression)
lightweight flywheel

that should make you happy for a while, and be more $$$ than ya would have for a while

You said no tranny swap, but that's your best bet. Can easily be done for less than 800 bucks.

Your choice. Slushbox or manual monster.

erm, where can I get 2.0 liter cams for a decent price socks? Is it difficult to port/polish head yourself, or expensive at a shop, and what is SAFC II?

Tranny's and the parts can be gotten for around $500. Several folks have posted about it in the past years here.

Labor? Do it yourself.

Damn.

Seriously, some of you guys piss me off. There are about 200 threads here on the tranny swap. They've been posted for years. Most of them are folks saying "I can't do that, it be too hard", or "I can't afford it, how do I upgrade my auto". Upgrading an auto won't do the same as a manual swap, and it'll be more expensive. Most of the folks that have auto's have either finally bit the bullet and done the manual swap, then they go NUTS at how good the car drives and how realitively easy the swap was compared to what they thought.

Search.

Research.

Parts lists are shown, places to get the parts are listed.

I mean DAMN guys, it's the same places every time.

1. Car-parts.com
2. Ebay.com
3. Local junkyards
4. For Sale section on Hyundai forums.

That's in the DIY section. Yes, the pics are missing, but just as an amazing idea, contacting the person who put the thread up just MIGHT get you the pictures reposted till we can host them permanantly ourselves.

One guy there got all the parts for $825 shipped. Another said $400.

Some parts and a list.

Another list and people that have done it.

And I just replaced a bunch of the pics, just waiting on Loneshark now.

ok Sorry to make you mad. Im new to "Cars" I don't know a whole lot about this kinda stuff. I just had to rebulid the tranny and it was over $2,000 to do so. Doing a tranny swap is kinda pointless at the time. When my tranny went out, all the places in california that I check out wouldn't do a tranny swap. Saying its to complicated, to expensive and very risky were they didn't want to ruin there rep. I need my car for school and work so I had to get it repaired. SOOO now im looking for a way to make my car faster. Its going to be a show car. I just want power just in case. Thanks for all the help you guys have given me. If there any more information please let me now.
