Default Tried to change out the roll post motor mounts

The rear roll post had a stripped nut so I couldn't change it out. I tried everything...heat and penetrating spray and an impact gun. I'm trying to take them off to fill them with poly to make them firm. Any ideas on how to get that stripped rear nut off? Should I try taking off the entire cross member? Every other bolt came out fine...stupid car!

drill the center of bolt and heat up center. the nut should just ease off then.

or cut a peice out of the nut to weaken it

Take off crossmember, easier to work on then, only 4 bolts, the side mounts will hold the motor no prob

Okay, I'll probably take off the crossmember (I was worried about the motor sitting there without the crossmember supporting it. But I'll use a jack to hold the trans up just in case...It looks like you can't get the front mount off without removing the crossmember anyways.

I'll probably try cutting the nut...and heating it up to loosen it. The nut is already stripped to all hell. I have a new pair of oem mounts I was going to install in their place. Then poly fill these ones and let them cure for a couple weeks before installing (if the oem replacements don't get rid of enough movement for my liking).

If you've got it out, penetrating oil for a few hours, then vise grips on both sides clamped down superman strong might get it. It's just a bolt, don't sweat it TOO much.

P.S. the bottom mounts are called roll stops because that's their job. The sides mounts are called mounts and they'll probably hold the engine just fine for a day or three just sitting there not driving anywere. Remember that the roll stops are basically disconnected when the rubber disintegrates and the engine doesn't go flying . . . but I'd probably put a jack under my engine out of an abundance of caution.

Cool, thanks for the info. What's ironic is the new roll stops didn't come with new bolts/nuts, except for that single rear nut that's stuck. So that nut must be a common problem. At least I have a new $0.10 nut already on hand!
