I'm going to try to port and polish my own intake sometime soon. i was wondering if someone could give me a few tips, like what to remove and what to leave alone. also will the small battery powered dremel work or should i invest in the larger one? lastly, what all types of bits do i need to buy? thanks for any help.

Invest in a corded drill and purchase some port/polish rolls from eBay, they are just sandpaper wrapped around themselves and work wonders on the cast aluminum manifold.
This is exactly what you are looking for and from a very reputable company.

Remove casting flash, smooth obvious irregularities. Leave the very ends of the insides of the runners smooth after the injectors to help with atomization. Be aware that you will get approximately zero gains unless you are talking about cutting the manifold open, reworking it, and welding it shut again.
