Default Tiburon Rally Cars

Hey guys, I was curious, since I hear all these problems with the alpine turbo kits, who makes the turbo's for the rally cars?? wouldn't that be better to put into our cars? thanks in advance!

how much would it cost to buy a rally tib? how sweet would that be to toast everything on the road and dirt.

Odds are, they're custom setups, not kits. If you've got the kind of funding to set up a rally team and do that professionally, then you've also got either the experience to design a good turbo setup that will get you wins, OR you've got the funding to hire someone who does.

After seeing the Libra Racing cars in person, and talking with Brian Oldfield (Where are you Brian?!), they use "factory" engines, that are then worked over by Hyundai Motorsport engineers. The HM knows they are going to be turbo'd, so they put in low compression pistions, high strengh rods, re work some of the exhaust/intake ports...when I talked with brian, he rattled off a whole LIST of things Hyundai does to the motors.

Then Libra makes the turbo exhaust manifold, selects the turbo, makes all the intercooler plubing...etc..etc..and all the "electronics" to control/monitor everything. They also custom fabricate the modified suspension, bigger brakes, strengthen the chassis...etc..etc..etc..

Because libra makes everything custom, they do not have anything available for sale. They are also just not structured for it. They are a racing team, not a sales company.

If you are really looking for this kind of thing, I would suggest you try Hyundai Motorsports.

No alpine is not the only company. You can build a kit yourself. Both Red and I have posted the necessary parts before.

CAPA down under also has a tiburon turbo kit, and there are several available from korea. Rob of HP.com is working on getting another "better" but more expensive kit going/coming from south africa.

The apline kit is good, for what you pay for it, but at $1900, it is by no means a complete kit.

Do be done "right" a turbo setup would run you at least $4000, realisticly $7000 unless you can get hella deals or get luckey with lots of used parts. That is what makes the alpine kit good, it is a decent start for only $1900.

you still need....
a BOV that recirculates to between the maf and the turbo
a stronger clutch
a full exhaust
better Uni-chip tuning.

I'm giving them another wack at re-tuning my ECU this week...so hopefully when I get back from MN this weekend...it will be re-tuned and much improved...hopefully.

Alpine kit works. Not the best parts but after patience and tunning you get a good package for the money. CAPA kit is actually the same Alpine Kit.
