Really cheap coil overs for GK's
I've seen these advertised a couple of times and I've been meaning to post but I always forget. Not sure how good they are but for the same price as springs, really cant go wrong for a $400 set of coils.

I have read a lot about these but am very skeptical about lowering on coils that dont have a height adjustable body. The Raceland units sacrifice piston travel when lowering...still a good deal though.

I know a few people running Raceland Coilovers in their GTI's and they are very happy with them.
Just wish their was a set this cheap for my RD2 :( Speaking of Coils and suspension, I noticed one of the Struts on my FK Coils appears to be blown (leaking oil all over) so now I'm debating on replacing it + other side, or just switching to Air... Only reason I haven't pulled the trigger is its damn expensive! Anybody here have Suggestions? |
Those struts would be absolute shite
Would you trust your life to these at 130 mph? Couldn't they have saved money on chrome finishing, and spent it on a decent rose joint up top? I reckon an angle grinder is way cheaper |
there are actually a bunch of people running them on NT and i have heard good things about them.

Had an interesting chat with the pro's who build the Coupe racecars in the Uk last week. After trying a few of the more reputable coilovers, everytime they then ahd a geometry check on them, it had been thrown way out by the coilovers, so much so that they had to get AVO to develope a bespoke set for the cars before they buit them to race. The ride heights only dropped 1/2", as they found that was the handling sweetspot, and lower and it started to go away from them again.

Interesting post, eggcatcher. I always kinda suspected that to be the case, but it takes a LOT of work to actually get around to proving that.

The thing about shopping for suspension bits is that its about the same thing as shopping for your helmet: you get what you pay for, and only you know what your head's worth. The difference is, the suspension bits prevent the helmet from being used in the first place. Want to stay safe? Get a good set of shocks, get them from people who've proven they know what they're doing, and don't go for the cheapest option out there just because "I want shocks."

This is odd. Which end of the car was creating the issues? Something for me to take note of is all.
