Rare trim models

Other than the Tiburon FX and Accent SR, what other trim models did Hyundai have thats really rare? Was the FX trim the only rare one for Tibs?

i dont think the FX version is really rare. I seen alot of FX versions if the FX versions included black mirrors. I have an FX too

The R-Type tib in Korea was pretty rare, as was the F2 Evo in the UK.

The FX tib only came out in 1999 I believe, and came with the stock shark spoiler that so many people have wanted.

Uk got the f2, which was just an Se with 16" wheels and different front bumper, and some in a one off colour, Hyundai racing blue, not a limited edition, though its thought there were less of them than the F2 Evos.

That was followed up by the F2 evolution, a fully tuned up rally car version of the Coupe, with a whole 7bhp more from the 1.8 cam, as despite MSD (the builders of the competition Hyundais and the Evos) getting 210bhp out of it (NA) hyundai refused to warruntee it unless it was built entirely out of existing parts that weren't modified n anyway. They were limited to 1500 models, each with a plate in the engine bay marked with a number out of 1500.

Then the Germans got this, which rumours have it was limited to as low as 200 models.

Also the UK got s special edition Accent mvi when Hyundai took the Accent into the WRC, again half arsed the road car though. At the time WRC manufacturers made the road car the same spec as rally cars, 2.0 Turbo, 4wd, so we got Mitsubishi evos, Scooby Impreza's, GT-Four Celicas, Ford Escort Cosworths, and the Skoda Octavia VRS (only a 1.8 Turbo here, but still 4wd). What do Hyundai release in the UK? An accent thats still fwd but has a 1.5 engine instead of a 1.3, and a different grill.

The FX models sold in USA did not receive the "shark spoiler," but everywhere else did I think.

philippines didn't get the shark spoiler, unfortunately.

Mine is 98 FX I think the only difference between FX and none FX is the Sun Roof

97-99 FX = 2.0L engine and a few (very few) other tweaks.

the "base" or "non-FX" models got the 1.8L engine

The FX models did get a spoiler as an OPTION, but not the "shark" spoiler.

When they went to the GEN2 design in 2000, all cars were the 2.0L engine.

If I remember right, Canada got the "SE" but not the "FX".

The 1997 "Revision A" Tiburons are fairly rare. I only remember about 3 or 4 of them in all the years on the boards. One was my Dad's and one was RED's. (Dad's was "base" model 1.8L Red's was an "FX") so they are not specific to "FX" or "base" model. The REV A were the first Tiburons to come into the USA. They used a different ECU and also had different placement of the Evap cannister and a few other oddities.
