Default QÜIKTIB custom CAI intalled

OK guys check this out and see what you think.

This is the "Dry version" meaning absolutly no worries of hyro-lock.

The "Wet version" will be completed soon and will have the filter completely in the wheel well.

Any Questions or comments please post and I will help the best that I can.

There is a hole to the left of the battery tray(BT) as we look a it. If you remove the BT and enlarge that hole, you can fit your piping down there with a 90 degree elbow. That location should be MUCH dryer and have no hydrolock worries. It should also offer mucho colder air. Also...heat wrap that length of metal piping.

Lastly...clean that engine bay! EEEEWWWW!!!!

The actual angle to get in the wheel well is about 30 deg. so very little flow restriction. I am also having the pipe powder coated by a company near me, but for right now it has about 10 coats of blue ceramic based engine paint inside and out, so the pipe really doesn't get hot at all.

I knew you'd be the one to scope that out, unbelievable I cleaned it for 4 hours the very next day and after the blue accents it really looks kick a$$. now I just need to get some one to give me the sizes and lengths of hosing I need to replace the stock ones.
*hint-hint*

As soon as I get the 2nd piece of piping installed and coated I'll have new pics and a install guide for anyone interested in doing the easy mod.

hey man nice but clean that engine bay!!!! you said it random. Take a look at my intake i built. it is similar but i didnt move the batery and also there are holes right in front of mine where cold air flows in when im moving giving it a sort of ram air. this is on my accent. random you dont have to say it the pipe is already heatwrapped i just dont have an updated pic. http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/chr_ome16/vwp?....f%26.dir=/Yahoo !%2bPhoto%2bAlbum/Accent%26.src=ph%26.view=t

The reactive filter limits the amount of air that can get into the filter vs the style you have now. I do not reccomend that you switch.

I do reccomend that you drop that filter into your fender well, by changing the angle on those pipes. just cut a hole through the plastic shield, and extend the pipe into the fenderwell and attach the filter there.

I dont know what plastic shield your talking about? i have a metal battery tray it seems to be fairly thick. are you talking about putting it downward? oh you are talking about going into the wheel well? do i have enought room in there for the filter? still i dont see any plastic it looks to be all metal? if i could accomplish this do you think it would help my performance?
thanks random you are the man!

If you go down about 6", there should be a plastic shield between the engine bay and the wheel well. If you cut a hole in that, it will allow the Filter to reside in the wheel well, rather than the engine bay.

The Ractive heat shield filter is best for the setup you see here, for 2 reasons

1: the shield and the battery block a major amount of heat from the engine.
2: the opening in the shield is directed straight towards the opening to the wheel well, so in turn sucking colder air.

When I get around to finishing the intake, I will remove the shield(it just unscrews) and drop it completely into the wheel well. This is the ablsolute straightest past to the wheel well and elemenates all restrictive 90 deg. bends, for the best flow of air!
