Hey guys, a little while ago I was driving up the street and I heard a pretty loud sorta clank in my driver side door, kinda sounded like something fell off inside the door panel.

Now my driver side window winds up too far for me to close the door, so i have to wind it all the way up and then down a little bit to close the door.

anyone have any ideas?

btw im mechanically retarded so try to do ur best to dumb it down for me smile.gif

Sounds like you broke your window regulator.

Hit the search link at the top and type in...

Window regulator.

Search THREAD TITLES.

Read.

Could also possibly be one of those stoppers that the window hits when it gets up so far. One of mine fell off, and I put it back on when I had to replace my regulator...lol.......

My window wouldn't roll up when the regulator went out. Do you here any kind of sound when your rolling it up? Besides the motor?

It sounds like a screw might have fallen out that holds your regulator in place or your regulator is breaking apart. I would check it as soon as you can to avoid what happened to my window.

My drivers side regulator broke one day when it was about 1/2 way up causing the window to fall about a foot inside the door which really sucked cause I ended up having to fab a bracket to hold the window in the up position until I was able to obtain a replacement regulator. I was lucky the window didn't break. The problem turned out to be the plastic cable guides on the regulator broke leaving the window with nothing left to hold it up. Prior to this happening I remember the window being very loose allowing you to jiggle it if it wasn't rolled up all the way. The window also would roll down past the weather stripping about 1/2" further than it should have.

I check all window regulators now as soon as they start showing signs like yours and 1/2 the time its just something that needs to be tightened.

True, it may not be your regulator, but it is probably related. Take the door panel off and look inside, see if there is a broken piece. then see where it goes.

Rip door panel off, peel plastic back and see if you see anything out of whack.....If all looks okey dokey, I'd go with that it is that little stopper "thingy"

P.s.....don't literally rip door panel off, I'd suggest taking the screws out first laugh.gif
