Hey fellas, check this out. My mechanic has a brand new Hyundai 2.0L 2001 Tiburon engine that he's going to drop in to my 1997 Tib this January, along with the new 5-speed 2001 Transmission. The engine has about 4000 miles on it.
He could not install my airram because he said the labor would be really high and that it would be a lot better to get it installed by a shop who have some warranty. He also said installing the intake manifold section is difficult. But with a new engine it would just be one shot however I would have to leave the car for some time in his garage.
Just wanted to let you all know good ol' Automatic HKC is going to get some manual booty. banana2.gif

uhm, if the labor wil be too high on an airram, i dont even want to know what it will be like for a complete engine swap, to go along with the things that need to be done for the auto-manual swap.
airram should take no more than 3 hours max for ANY mechanic to install.

Dude, do the friggin airram yourself. The first time I've EVER taken something like that off the engine for work is when I did my Outlaw Enginnering DIY, it's not THAT hard at all, and takes 2 to 4 hours. Do it yourself, learn about your car, and save a ton of money. You'll be stoked that you did it on your own.

ill do it for a corona..
The IM is 9 nuts... 4 bolts (support braket),.. and some random hoses...
The guy is probably worried about tuning it.. or something not fitting. Many dont like doing custom installs..
Buy the engine.. do it yourself.. then give him the engine like that.

Yeah, like everyone else said... Do the Airram yourself. I've removed & reinstalled my own twice now & it's a piece of piss fing02.gif
The IM support bracket bolts were a b**** to remove but other than that it was too easy. I believe you will need some new longer hoses for the Airram though.

Doode, I've been dreaming about a 5spd! Hahah throughout this entire vacation actually.
Its seriously like a 20-25% power gain over the automatic, no matter how you look at it. Torque is directly transferred from tranny to the wheels as you said, gearing BENEFICIAL for racing, 5 gears instead of 4.
And the auto definitely loses WAY more than 8whp.
