I have been getting a buzzing noise from my exhaust and just recently it has started to have a more 70's domestic type sound (can't figure out any other way to describe it). Could it be that my exhuast manifold is cracked like everybody else's? My tib has 47,000 miles on it so it is hard to believe that is what it is. Secondly, if I take off the heat shield will I be able to tell if it is cracked? Need some input before I proceed.

Have you done anything to your exhaust?

Your flexpipe could have ripped, check all the flanges, check the hangers, and might wanna get muffler belts checked out.

lol, muffler belts. sooooo funny. anyway, what would it cost to get the flexpipe replaced? or would that be covered under the 5yr/60k mi warranty?

I think warranty should cover it. Or you would just need the downpipe section.

I might be wrong about flexpipe, just check it.

You can always go to a muffler shop and have them check it out for you if you don't feel like jacking it up or if your not sure on what to look for.

You have an exhaust leak... courtesy of the cheap materials Hyundai used to make their exhausts. Mileage doesn't matter, what matters is how its been exposed to the elements. The chemicals and minerals they put down for snow corrodes OEM exhausts especially.

Exhaust should be under the Engine/Powertrain warranty (5yr/60k).

Yup flexpipe, mine sounds awful right now. I have lost about half of the steel wrap that allows the pipe to flex. 02.gif
