Yeah so, my 97 tiburon has like 212,000 km on it. (had 205,000km when I got it) And I was wondering if it was worth even modding anymore. I put a intake, exhaust and strut bar. And I was considering new springs. but Is it even worth it with that much mileage? The car is in good shape tho, no major problems runs great and I fixed the few rust spots it had. So there isnt really anything to do on it.

Thanks for your input. wink1.gif

if youre worried about the motor, swap in one with lower mileage. they can be found for a few hundred with good mileage. check junkyards and try to get some prices. maybe even go with the beta2. as for modding it, you still can. everything you have on can easily be switched over if you decide to get a new engine

hmm yeah, ill check for engines at some places near where I live.

How many km's can a beta engine usually go for? I dont drive very hard, and most of the mileage on it is highway.

theres no set mileage really. the beta motor has seen pretty high mileage. im just saying keep the idea in your head that it could be on its way out

Hey there, I too am looking at the same issue. I'm at 232 000kms, and still rolling solid. Moding is just fine but I wouldn't recomend any thing hardcore. Your engne still has lots of potential left in her. 1.8 ca/ecu, bbtb, plugs, wires, pulleys all that is basically replacing stock parts. That in mind you are taking time off her and replacing with better quality parts.

I just lowered with some HKS spings and KYB struts and man what a difference! There is plenty of mods that will not affect your "age" so don't be shy to mod!

That's only like 130,000miles-ish i think, so thats not really that high at all man. I say go for it, if anythings happens get a new motor, swap it, and then you'll be that much more knowledgeable. Just think of things the way I do, if something breaks, yeah it sucks, but you also get to learn to to fix or replace the part yourself and it just gives you that much more experience. I've had 4 things done to all of my cars, ever. My thunderbird - changed motor mount (it was hydrolic sp?), replace the windshield, new tire, and on my tibby i had a new valve stem put on my tire because i dont have a machine to take tire off the rim.

I'm near the same point as you Jason, I've got 210,000km's on the clock and I have done small mods and my engine is still going just fine. I give it a pretty hard time too, never skipped a beat, just gotta keep the oil topped up. If your still worried just get a Beta II, hopefully with low k's and swap it over. A few members here have done it with minimal hassles.

A Beta II & Trans will grace my engine bay in the next couple of months.
