So I wanna get the J-speed lightweight pulleys, mostly cause they come in purple but also cause Ive wanted a set for a while. But I've heard that the power steering is pretty much non existant with a lighter ps pulley. Is this true? Am I gonna have to gain muscle strength just to turn my wheel with the pulleys on?

My PS hasn't changed. A lighter pulley shouldn't change how your pump works, unless the pulley is a different size. Even then I'd think it wouldn't be that drastic. But, I could be wrong. I have the OBX pulleys from E-bay with an Unorthodox underdrive pulley with no problems.

I ran the unorthodox racing underdrive crank pulley on my car for years. I never had a problem with the effort to steer the car increasing... it stayed exactly like stock for all intents and purposes.

I've had the unorthodox underdrive pulley for a few years as well and it's been fine. I was just worried about the PS pulley but I didnt think it would make a difference. Thanks!

no, it doesnt.

the main thing is to make sure ALL the belts are nice and tight after installing these things. i fought with that for a while, my ps belt was super tight but my alternator belt was loose and it was causing problems with my power steering.

Cool. Theyre on sale at kspec.com....think I should take a chance? I've never had problems with them before...

have fun getting purple, i believe they just send you them randomly

Tibbychick 08-10-2007 10:51 AM

Well, that's another thing. I don't want them unless they are purple. I mean, I'd settle for chrome. I know it's just a trivial thing but I've got the whole purple/chrome/gunmetal theme going on under the hood, and these would match my throttle body perfectly....blue and red would totally kill it.

rollwitstyle 08-10-2007 11:08 AM

i have a purple ud pulley lol thats how i know they send them random lol

xxxmonoxidechild 08-10-2007 01:07 PM

definitly FALSE!

i had the Jspeed underdrive crank pulley, aluminum Power steering pully, and aluminum water pulley and still had zero issues. no idle issues at all either, and i even had a fidanza flywheel too.
