Well this is something that I've been thinking of doing for a while, and I finally got it done. The idea is that the scoop acts like an air ram and forces air into the area where the filter is, and the faster you go the more air is pushed in. The scoop takes the place of the piece of plastic gaurd that was cut away from underneath.

I'm sure it'll help at speed but doesn't your car ever scrape in that area? If I took a close-up pic of my bumper you'd see scratches all around there... Bloody Sydney roads!! (It doesn't help that I need to negotiate the driveway leading into my building's carpark EXTREMELY carefully either... Because I'm never very careful!

Yes, I bottomed out a few times, so I have lots of scratches there.
Your intake will definitely help a bit, but not super much. Still give you props for trying and making something smile.gif
Where is your filter located?

just be really careful with water now.
I do know of a guy who installed a hood scoop on a fiat spider. I will have to post a pic, but the last years the spider was produced, they had large hood bumps to clear the injection. 79 and 80 were the last year for carbs. He cut one of the bumps to make a scoop over the carb on his 79. If he left the car idling and facing into the breeze, you could hear the idle rise and fall as air was directed into the carb through the scoop.
