Installed a AutoPage remote alarm/ door lock (No remote start) and connected my new stereo, both yesterday.

Everything seemed fine and today, the CEL came on. Too much of a coincidence for this to be due to something else.

I took the car back to the shop today and they checked the wiring out and re-did a relay. The code came back on.

Then, they disconnected the alarm brain, in an attempt to see if that was defective. Still the code came back.

I left there with no hope except that the tech is going to do more research and get back to me tomorrow. He has the codes with him.

The codes were:

PO444 - Evap/ Purge Control Valve detects open circuit.

PO344 - Camshaft Sensor Bank 1 receiving too much voltage.

I'm clueless as to why this would happen. Could they have tapped a wrong wire? The car was looked at by two tech's and they couldn't find anything.

I need help guys, but please dont clutter the thread with just an opinion or telling me to go back and get my money (that's a given). Thanks

um, did you check for loose wires in the area you installed the alarm? your watch probly got caught on one or two. Make sure that main jack/plug connection is good and tight. I'm doing research through the schematics right now.

um... dude, there is no listing in our cars for po344. continuing on with 343 camshaft position sensor high.

judging by the two faults descriptions, you have one or more open circuits in your car. A open is read as a high in digital logic.

GOT IT!!!!!

Engine control relay pin 3 disconnected from circuit... check it out....

You need to go into your engine bay and pound on that suxor!

Dude, you're not checking the thread quick enough! go fix it!

AHHHHHH!!! Sorry man...I'm packing to leave the country tomorrow

I'm so TOTALLY clueless on where to find it in the engine bay (I am relieved that it's just a relay)

Man, if you're right, I'm so indebted to you. Just treat me like a newbie with this, will ya?

Ok, so I finally got back to the car.

Pushed down hard on all relays, fuses etc.

Nothing changed. Any idea what I should do now?

Thanks

checkout the weird looking box labelled B in this picture:

the engine control relay is also not in the engine bay fuse box, it is here(C26)...

im willing to bet that fuseable link B is busted though. look at that one before you go ripping the dash off to get to that relay.

p0444

-Replace Fuel Cap
-Fuel system pressure low/high (caused by bad fuel pump, gas cap, or fuel pressure regulator)
-Bad purge valve or wiring
-Bad Evap Solenoid I believe?
-Could also be from topping off your tank.

I work at autozone.. I get that code all day long. The 344 im not sure, I'll check tomorrow and ask a couple guys for ya.
