I'm at my wits end with this one.
Hey guys, i've searched and searched the entire interewebs at this point (not to mention went to two independant Mechanics that are good friends of mine) about this issue i've had for about six months on my wife's 2001 tiburon
When gassing up (yes, go ahead and say it, "it's been covered here here and here" but no links....
anyway.
It gets about a dollar in then clicks.
sometimes it'll spit back up at me, sometimes it'll play nice and hold it down.
i wait about 3 minutes and do it again. I spend about 30 minutes gassing up each time I do due to this.
My first thought was "I'm an idiot and am putting in the nozzle too deep" and even barely entering the nozzle causes the same results. I've tried different gas stations with all the same results, so i know it's not their fault.
I had a good friend of mine lift "Old Silver" up and pulled the charcoal container in the rear to inspect it. He let it sit to remove all vapors and re-installed... no go.
I just got back from another friend of mine who is thinking it could be the anti siphoning ball being stuck, however after putting some pressured air to knock it back in place, decided that if it's not that (which it apparantly wasn't) we'd have to pull the gas tank.
I've found people said the following online,
"The other one I use is I removed the clamp from the larger tube going to the canister. When I pull up to the pump to get gas, I pull off the tube. It allows enough ventilation for me to fill the tank as fast as I want. I replace the tube when I'm done. " - which is nice if it works (havn't tried it) but i can't expect my wife to do that at 11pm when she's getting off work and needs to gas up.
also found
" i found myself unable to refuel my tiburon once, it seemed to be full but i knew better. a guy at the gas station said, "oh yeah just unplug this wire here, that'll fix it" all i really remember was "this wire here" was under the car, near the fill door. it solved my fuel rejection problems pronto. only downside is every other day someone says "what's that wire hanging down under your car ?" which is interesting as I can't find this mystical wire anywhere and really would not like to explain to my wife that this loose wire is "ok" and "completely safe"
Any ideas on what else I can do? the car otherwise is in awesome shape, 2001 just hit 103k
If this is reposted from somewhere else with a solution, please reply to me with the links as I don't know what else to use as search terms.

I had the same issue and in my case there was charcoal all clogged up in the evap lines as well. I did Stokers DIY and had to take off the lines from the canister and blow them out too.
Was negligent and drove the tib with this issue for over a year when it was our DD.
