Idle jumping from 1500-2000 rpm
 

When driving and coming to a stop, ill put the car in neutral and coast. Sometimes instead of just idling nicely at 1500 rpm until i come to a complete stop, itll jump between 1500 and 2000 rpm every few seconds. Itll do that continously until i start moving again. Then at the next stop the car will be back to normal 1500rpm. This only happens maybe every other day I drive it. What's the problem? IACV maybe? How do I clean it?

Remove your IACV and thoroughly spray it out with carb cleaner. Have you got a check engine light?

also check for a vacuum leak. does it idle rough?

No, doesn't idle rough at all. Just the random up and down idle jump every other day or so. No check engine lights either.



So just take both hoses off of it and spray it out? It's the little soda can looking thing behind the intake manifold right?

I scrubbed with a little nylon brush in addition to rinsing with solvent
