I was just wondering what happends when the iat sensor is not connected other than the check engine light going on.
Because I decided to put a cone filter on and took off the stock air intake. And I wanted to know if it was necessary to make a hole for the sensor or just leave it. Thanks. |
honestly i dont think youll see a difference. maybe gas mileage a small bit. i definately wouldnt let the sensor sit agains the engine or anything. get it out of the way. personally, id put it in but i dont think it will matter

Yea, if you just put zip tie it near the filter itself you should be fine... readings would be hardly different.
|
Well as long as there isnt any loss in power or anything.
hamhead, did you mean zip tie the sensor like on the outside of the filter? or make a hole right after the filter? I don't have much room to make any holes. |
Just try and tie the sensor anywhere around the filter opening, where its going to get a decent reading. Letting it hang loose might end up bumping it up against the block or something where its going to see inflated temperatures and probably either burn the sensor out or make it not run properly.
