I'd like to put a header on my 01 tib but am wondering if I get rid of the front cat if it will still pass emission testing. I live in ontario and e-tests are required every 2 years. Also which header is a direct drop in.

I don't know about what kinda header will just "drop in", but I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that if you remove the cat, you won't be passing an emissions test in Ontario. Keep the cat on and do the emission test, THEN do the exhaust work you want to do. However, I know some people who run the emission tests that can trick the computer into thinking the car it's testing is a Land Rover or something like that. If you have any buddies in that business, and you're truly stuck on the emission test, try and see if you can get them to manipulate the system in your favour.

I just had the e test done yesterday so I now have 2 years, I guess I could change the header before doing each e-test. So I guess not too many people in canada and running with headers?

If you don't mind the work, and don't mind violating any applicable laws*, you can keep the stock exhaust system and change it out for inspection day every 2 years.

if i was you get the megan header and just change it out when it comes time to test. it would probably take about a hour total time if you keep the exhaust bolts good and lubed. would take far less with air tools.

I just put a high flow cat in my 3" exhaust, passes inspection no problem.

Just found this thread, and it's exactly what I'm wanting to know. I'm not sure if the OP had 2 cats OEM, and so, if he meant removing the front cat, but keeping the one after the flex pipe. Obviously if you only had 1 cat (the front one) and you removed it, then that wouldn't pass emissions. But what if you remove the front one and keep the one after the flex pipe (and relocate o2 sensors so that they're in between that cat), would it pass Ontario emissions then?
