Header Help!
Installing these Headers (OBX 4-2-1) is a huge pain in my ass. Can someone give me some really great ideas on how to get my old downpipe off and no stupid answers please. I've tried everything but an air gun, and thats gonna be tried next weekend, lol.

WD 40, ehh, I'd try PB Blaster, it's what I used. Put it on all the nuts/bolts/threads, and let it sit for an hour or so. I needed my breaker bar with 1 after that, but they all came off easily.

Yeah yeah, soaked everything in WD40, but no air tools yet, im gonna borrow some next weekend. I was using a breakerbar ratchet set which worked well on the upper part of the header, I really had to hurt myself to "strip and breake the two bolts attaching the header to the downpipe. Now I only have two more bolts (the ones from the down pipe to the cat) and they're way worse that the FIRST TWO!!!
Other ideas I tried,
Holding an open flame to the rusted bolts for some time. THat helped on the first set of downpipe bolts.
Tried tightening the bolts more to break the rust seal and make it easier to get them out. thats a No.
Seting up the ratchet and giving it some full force karate kicks... no.
Using a hammer on the end of a cresent wrench and a ratchet. Yes that helped alot.
Peeing on my car. Didn't help at all, in fact It probably ruined the paint... I was holding it in too long.
Ok so far I've tried all these options (except the last one) which did not involve air tools, because I didnt have them available to me yet. So any other ideas? Theres a car show from College Park Tuning over at university of maryland college park on April 29th, sunday at 12:00. If interested in that pm me. Im trying to get the "Headers from the titanic" out of my car and put some nice shiny ones in before then.

Pb Blaster and some muscle outta do it. PB Blaster isn't WD40, it works better (but smells worse). My girlfriend complains 4 days after a project, saying I smell like PB. lmao.gif

Actually, you don't need air tools, go get a electric impact wrench, the bolts under the car came off quick with that sucker. You can get a nice one at Harbor Freight for cheap, or you can "wal mart rent" one.
i couldn't get my down pipe off either.
i got the manifold off, and shimmied the manifold + flex pipe off down the bottom of the car all in one piece, then threw it in the garage, where it has sat ever since, still connected.
kinda tricky, but easier than waiting for air tools.
