It doesn't measure torque through the cigarette lighter, in fact it doesn't measure anything through the lighter plug. It gets power through there, that's it. What you do with these is enter the vehicles weight on startup, then with the use of an accelerometer it will tell you the approximate HP, G-Forces, 1/4 mile time, etc.

Edit: just noticed that is an SS, I have the regular gtech pro.

it is not going to be as exact as a real dyno or a dragstrip.. but it will give you a pretty good guestimate.. better than your butt dyno that is for certain. It's results should be repeatable and it would be a good thing to have if you are doing performance modifications to your car. You would be able to go to your favorite road and test to see what they did for you.

I would probably give it ~0.1-0.3 off your real quarter mile time. But it does give you a pretty good estimate, since it starts when it senses the car moving forward. No need for stopwatches and stuff. Its not a bad thing to have. If you have car tuner buddies, since they really are just plug and play into a 12v source, see if like four of you can split the cost and share it.

Those Gtechs are pretty accurate..there's been discussions about this in the past and they deviate no more then a tenth of second from actually 1/4 mile times...me and friends have used and it's usually right on...granted you use it on a level road and have the meter set at 0.0 when you take off..

I think it's worth the money..but then again I have an older one but does the job nicely..the newer ones are more expensive and probably have more featuers but, like I said, the old ones work just as well.

One last question..
is it hard to use while driving? Or nm..I guess you would use it at as stopped position..lol
Is it hard to read during day/night? The black text on amber background seems like it..
