Alright, I've searched for this, and nothing really came up, so here goes.

I only have $3,300 left to pay on my Tiburon, i'll be right under $3,000 next week, so when she gets paid off ,it'll be fully mine and then I'll feel more comfortable about modding the engine. What is the best set-up for 400whp for a beta 1 engine? Will I need nitrous to hit that? I am for sure gonna be doing the 5 speed swap 1st, and then Turbo. I'm not really that smart with engines or the Beta's alone. This being my 1st ever car to modify, can you run internals with a Turbo? I'm sure we can since my friend has a Turbo passat and he's got internals. How much psi should I be running with the right tuning? I'm going with top brands for the performance parts, for it to be a really nice show worthy tiburon. Is this going to effect the Engines life span? Is it gonna run shorter or longer?

Thanks for ANY Info. smile.gif

hmm, you will definately need a better clutch thats for sure. you will need the Urathane motor mounts, you will need better brakes, probably turbo pistons and rods, port and polishing, balanced crank and performance cams... You will need alot, lol. and if I'm not mistaked, it looks like our engines are aluminum block, I used to think they were iron but after a good look there aluminum, soo...Moderator Correction, dont listen to him, Our blocks ARE cast iron, our heads are aluminum I would not recommend going past 12psi on the boost, unless you get those turbo rods and pistons and have a lower compression setup. I probably sound like a total ass cause I dont have a turbo or anything, but this is what I know, you turbo guys can correct me sad.gif good luck with that, it's gonna cost you alot of money.

Yeah, it cost alot of $$ to make a bad ass Tiburon, thats for sure, but i'm up for it. Gotta support the Hyundai Group!
But yeah, when I upgrade to the 5 speed, i'm gonna do the upgraded clutch and a short shifter for sure. I'm just trying to find the best way to go. I dont care if it's expensive. I want this bish done perfect. Pretty much good enough for shows like Hot Import Nights and such. I do realize that I'm gonna have to get rid of my catback that i have on the way here, and the Maintec header that I might buy, or I might even give it to my friend's RD1. I'll probably just end up not doing a header and just switch out the stock header to the Turbo manifold when I do the Turbo. How much money will this cost alone? I'm thinking around 16-20g's maybe even more, but hell I dont care.

Nope, it's a solid cast iron block.

So which means I can run more PSI than 12? If so, rock on, if not i'll settle for around 5-10 if I can get 400whp out of that....doubt it.

lol thanx I thought so.. the v6 tibs are aluminum.

I still say stick with 12psi, lol. every now and then be daring and bump up to 16psi, hopefully with a decompressed setup.

^^ lol, you aren't going to get close to 400whp with 10psi, your looking at some serious money if you want to push that power figure.

Better buy a lotto ticket. laugh.gif

i gotta be honest with you, I think the best you'll get is 300 maybe 320 tops. most likely somewhere between 260 and 280whp. and thats fine. I'd be happy with that. dont burn that much money or you'll get burned in the end!! lets say you did spend that much money on your engine and boom a rod shoots thru your block because you were careless about the amount of boost. game over... all gone. salvage and start over, not a fun situation. 280whp can spank a srt-4, that cobalt ss, 350z, bmw 3series, probably anything you might come across, except a corvette, there everywhere and you probably wont beat them.

I'd be happy with that. Thinking it over and to be honest, I DO NOT need a 400whp car as my 1st decently quick car. lol I've gonna learn how to control power first.
