I was told that adding an electronic exhaust cut out to my car (butterfly valve) would make it lose power because it's just a 4 cylinder. The only thing I would gain is more noise. Can someone confirm this?
The only dyno I have seen is on a turbo 4 and it made power - but turbo. Sort of changes things. That and it was trying to breathe through stock exhaust when closed because.. sleeper VW.

^Do we know each other?
The only time I've run my GTI on a Dyno, is when I had my stock catback, but 3" Catless downpipe with a 3" Cutout. Back when I wanted it almost sleeper like (not that its was REALLY that fast lol, but quick enough to surprise people)
As for OP's question, there are better ways to get power out of your RD if that's truly the end goal. Even If your simply after more noise, there are much better ways to go about that as well. Personally I think it would sound really raspy if you put a cutout on the NA RD.
