door sensor/switch?
 

I have a 2001 Tibby and I have having some electrical issues. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for the switch or sensor that is in the door jam that makes the door light go on and the car ding when the key is in? Can't seem to find anything on it. Thanks :)

Just went through the same thing on my car, it was indeed a faulty door switch.



One from the same general era of Elantra should work, or you can order part# 9356023100 SWITCH ASSEMBLY - DOOR from your local dealer for $4.47.



Also, check if the big honking screw holding it in is loose, since that is the ground return for the switch.



Incidentally, it's part# 9179138000 SCREW - EARTH COUNTERSUNK and is $0.40



When removing the switch, be careful not to let the electrical connector fall back into the hole, or you'll need to take off the side panel to push it back through.
