Cat Or No Cat, That Is The ?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SOCKS @ May 6 2007, 07:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>i have no cat because it was cheaper, it wouldn't pass emissions anyway with turbo, going catless is insignificant to the atmosphere not only on a global scale; but on a statewide scale, and less backpressure. lol</div>
that's an ignorant ass statement and you know it. it is your choice after all, but don't promote it as a good idea because it isn't and if everyone acted in a similar way we would be getting sunburns a hell of a lot sooner.
i truly do wish a fix it ticket upon anybody that doesn't have a cat.

You can and will pass the emissions with proper turbo setup. Also that's why you don't cheap out your turbo setup.
Is there any rewared for reporting cars without CATs? LOL
please please install the CAT for you, your family and for all of us.

lol theres no reward, and i will never have a cat on my car with the turbo setup, and i will run an open PCV setup.
you can run a cat, or not run a cat when you boost. if you wanna please society, then run a cat, if ya dont wanna bother, run a straight thru exhaust like me, dont matter. you wont lose noticable power with a cat, but its cheaper without a cat, and you dont have to worry about ever needing to replace it.
so yeah thats my .02.
and yeah, if ya do some research and look at how much a single car will affect the atmosphere, compared to big business, factories, and shit like that, you will realize its insignificant.

that's the same mentality the big businesses have though...their amount is insignificant when compared to the overall output. it's why areas of high gas pollution have higher cancer ratios.
if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. no two ways about it.
i voted normal cat. it's cheaper, MIGHT steal 5 percent of your horsepower, and completely nullifies the argument above that you will save money going cat-less.

sure it's insignificant....but say if everyone ran without a cat, what would happen then.....exactly....sure one person doesnt make a difference...but just think what would happen if everyone followed.....
I think I am going to run a high flow cat due to the 19 votes i got on it. It's better than no cat, and im neither here nor there on that issue, but i am going to do i highflow by magnaflow. I think I will do 2 1/2 piping, a magnaflow cat, and either an Apexi N1 style muffler, or a real Apexi N1 muffler.
Apexi's are about 250$ though... Are the OBX, or Skunk2, or Megans any good

just get an n1 style muffler. they are like 200 less than the real thing and are stainless. it wont be the real thing, but will flow good enough for anything you will ever need and sound pretty good..
theres a couple ways to do an exhaust.. the smart way, for flow.
and the stupid way, and pay for a bunch of pretty piping and the name of apexi.
if i was going to run a cat on an NA car, i would just stick with the stock cat. theres really no point of putting a more $$ magnaflow or catco on the car.

You know Socks.. I AM old enough to remember what it was like before emissions controls as we known them became mandatory. I can still see Philiadelphia shrouded in this nasty yellow smog from all the cars without emissions.. it would sting your eyes and make your clothes and hair stink.
Trust me, the simple act of cleaning up the cars has done wonders for the air. While my 77 Fiat does not require a cat (did not come with anything but an EGR valve, low compression, and a tiny choked carb) it will get one. Like I said before, I like being able to breathe clean air.
Keep promoting going catless and you will get points here.. RDtib does not promote street racing nor do we encourage our members to break the law.. especially one that affects all.. no matter what part of the world you are in.
Consider that a verbal warning
