recently i got a TPS sensor form a guy here. and when i went to install it i noticed that it did not snap back like the other one i have one my car now does. does that mean it is broken or is it the way that kind are made. i have not put it on my car to check if it works or not. but i thought that the piece inside of the tps is surpose to be spring loaded. and i right or just retarded?

I don't think they are spring loaded.

the one on my car definalty is. i put a flat screw driver in both and turned it and only one was spring loaded it was the one i had on the car still good i believe

No spring in the TPS. I think it just "snaps back" because the throttle plate closes it.

yes i had the crappy one and it would "snap" out and i put the good one in and it was the same way... if it is broken man i can sell you my extra good one, 20 shipped best ive ever seen one here.. i payed 30. PM me if your interested

I'm going to have to look at my Kefico tps in the morning. I really do not think they have springs in them. Otherwise if you adjusted your idle on the throttle body it would make your tps look like it was at 5% throttle or something.

i think the daesung has a spring in them while the kefico don't

don't quote me on wich is wich but i'm 100% sure one model doesn't have a spring in it

gophins349 Nov 17, 2007 01:28 AM

i am 100% sure that the "BAD one" does have the spring. and i thought that the "Good one" i got was broken because i have never seen one that was not spring loaded i guess i will try it and see if it works.

I just checked, my Kefico does not have a spring in it. I know my Dae Sung did not have a spring either. It is just a potentiometer in there that changes the resistance, it would be pointless to have a spring on it. Especially since the throttle body has a return spring.

^^ I second that. My Keifco does not have a spring in it, which makes more sense because the throttle return spring will return the tps to 0% anyways.

The tps in the tiburons is really ambiguous about going "bad" so it's pretty much a crapshoot when you go to replace it. When I replaced mine, the Nemisys scantool I used read perfect throttle movement all throughout the range. However, the car acted really funny when cold, and was low on power. I could tell it was bad by the way it drove, but couldn't prove it to myself with diagnostics....
