As many of you know my car was burning an abundance of oil out of number which eventually left me with a whole in my block. I was thinking of just junkin the car, but i was wondering what the price of a junkyard block approx. would be. Also, would i need to change the head too? Is it easier to change when the block and head are attached already? Let me know how i should approach this.

Go to www.car-part.com.

You should be looking between $100-$400.

i would personally think that if your not planning on doing anything to the engine (pistons, rods, etc.) then it would probably be easiest to just buy the whole thing, and it's not gonna cost much more than just a block...

You said you have a "hole in the block". Do you mean literally?

I can get several motors from Pick N Pull for $130. I can get motors already pulled for $300.

did you try picking up the phone? Remember to tell them you don't need the manifolds and TB, injectors, etc.

I see engines on Ebay all the time, full engines, for CHEAP.

There is a beta 2 with 710 miles on it, $330 in WI.

Redz those are both BETA2 motors. If i put that in im going to have to leave rdtiburon and go to elantraxd or newtiburon. But has anyone doen this swap if so what is needed. I heard these motors are totally different so im assuming nothing matches up. JON I have not contacted any junkyards yet i figure i post on here first.

So you guys are saying do the block and motor. ITs not worth keeping the head?

for the effort its not worth it

plus you would have a spare head to sell on ebay(from your car)

oh and that 2004 there redz might be cvvt

you can use a beta 2 long block and just reuse your sensors and manifold to make a beta 1.5 of sorts

so i can use a beta2 block with a beta1 head and the stock headers would match to the beta2 block and all sensors would match up including the ECU. What do you mean by 1.5? Dimensions?

no you could use a:
beta 2 block
beta 2 head
beta 1 IM and throttle body and exhaust manifold
beta 1 sensors

and what i ment by 1.5 is that you are using beta 1 parts with a beta 2

which it wouldnt be a complete beta 2

hence beta 1.5

you just cant use one if it has cvvt
you also reuse your factory ecu since you are still keeping the factory sensors
