hi!

Here in Austria we have a new law. You have to switch your Lights on whenever you drive. Because it is new, I often forget to switch it on.
My father drives a BMW and his Lights are switched on automatically if he starts the engine.
It would be great if I could manage to have this function in my Tiburon RD too. Do you have a idea how this could work?

thx

Great law you have their

what about all the cars that have auto light switch options, when it's still sunny the lights won't automaticly turn on.

Nice feature which for you country would be worthless laugh.gif

Okay, that post was completely offtopic.gif

If you know much about electricity, you could give this a try..
find out what wire powers your headlights by looking at the switch for them (i've never done this, maybe the wire is somewhere completely different), but I would then hardwire them to the same wires that give power to your cigratte lighter. This will turn the lights on automatically everytime the key is in the "ON" position in the ignition. This is how I wired my radar detector, works great.

this would require a bit of wiring.. but Canada has the same law, and their tib's lights come on whenever you start the car. Generally at a reduced rate to maximise the bulb life.

I would talk to your dealer and see if they can order up all the parts you might need to do this.. and hopefully some of our canadian brothers (and sisters) can chime in on how their systems work

And Viper... enough with the way off topic stuff.

2 Viper: the traffic laws in Austria are bullshit: for example: You have to show every mod on your car to a govermental examiner. He has to approve it. But the rules for a Approval are very strict.

2 zoned: thx. I will try it. May it will work.

If they just made that new rule, there has to be a way for older models that don't have that feature to comply. I guarantee you'll find several local companies selling kits to do that for your car.

not to go offtopic again, but in my country they've researched and there would be less car crashes if ppl would always have their lights on, even when it's 2 pm.

So I guess it won't take long before there would be a new law such as that here in this country.

When I leave my lights on and I take the key out of the car I hear a beeping sound and my normal lights turn off and my parking lights stay on.
I don't know if that's common ?

In Canada the Daytime Running Lights come on when the car is running and the hand brake is released. The DRL's are the high beam lights turned on at a low intensity. If this is what is required in your country you might be able to obtain the necessary parts to retrofit your car.

you can put a relay and wire it so that it will turn on lights when you turn key to ON.

it's not hard only 1 relay and wires.

Can you drive with fog lights on?
