anyone who might know..?
alright well im kinda new to tiburons, dont really know much about them yet, learnin tho. but i have a friend that has a built 2003 v-6 motor out of her tib that she totalled..i can get the motor for 300 bucks and its got 78k miles on the motor. but is there any way to drop it in a 2001 with out tons of fabrication? its a pretty decent deal and i wanna snatch it up if it will work. so if anyone could give me some advice or help that would be great..thanks. jeremy

I highly recommend against even attempting this. It could be done, but I guarantee it'll cost more and be more work than just making your engine equally powerful.
If it's truly a built engine buy it and either sell it or part it out. Just find out what "built" is. Some people have told me that their engine is "built" because they added a CAI. |
alright, yea thats what ive been hearin alot of..i kinda figured itd cost some money, but wasnt really sure how much. and yea its bored out and got pistons and a fully built top end. not sure brands but i seen the paper work and sh*t with what its got in it. but alright thanks man

Yeah...not even worth it. Put it this way...the cost it would take to retrofit that engine and the transmission (yes you need the tranny and ECU) in your car would be WAAAAAAY more than just getting a simple turbo kit, and bolting it on and you would have more power than that "built" V6.
|
yea i know id need the tranny and ecu, everything id need comes in the price. but yea too much work..thanks for the advice. but where can i find an ecu for my car? i really cant find sh*t for it. any site suggestions?
|
There are a lot of parts for your car. A partial vendor list (for all Hyundais) can be found here.
As far as an ECU goes, you looking for an OEM one? A piggyback? Or a full standalone? |
Or are you looking for just a controller, like an S-AFC?
|
you know back when i was a mod on the other site i would tell people to go for it and install the motor....then when 1 person failed at it i would be able to link everyone to that post and show them what NOT to do
sadly no one took my advice ph34r.gif |
A delta swap is actually not much more involved that a beta swap in an accent. There is a guy on EXD that is swapping the delta into his elantra. aside from the wiring and ECU everything is basically a bolt in affair.
|
The XD is a lot easier to swap the Delta into than the RD for many reasons. Even in the XD, I wouldn't recommend it based on what else could be done for the same money/effort. IMO the only reason a Beta swap makes sense is because of better parts availability and how little wiring needs to be done.
