'99 FX mods

I'm looking into modding up my Tib now that it's payed off. I want to be simple with it and try some other brands that I don't already have on my Accent. My Tiburon is a '99 with the 2.0L. I'm going for good sound(not fart can) and sleek looks. This is an everyday driver(even winter for now). No plans on forced induction on this car. Here's a quick run-down of the parts that interest me right now.

Weapon R Dragon Ram Air

Spyder Auto Headers

Magnaflow Direct Fit Cat

Shark Racing Big Brake Kit

StopTech Drilled Rear Rotors

Silk Auto BMX Body Kit

I need advice on a nice sports chip as well.

I also need advice for a decent Catback that's not a fart can. I have a Borla muffler on my Accent and I love the sound of it so anything like that.(Borla doesn't make Catbacksformy year)

Also, I want to upgrade the ignition and fuel delivery. Not too much as it's not going to be turbo or is it fine with stock injectors but upgraded fuel pressure reg. and plugs and wires.

That's one I haven't heard in a LONG, LONG time! Hahaha.

Welcome. The best you can do is eibach pro kit with eibach sway bars. For exhaust, you'll have to find a stainless exhaust such as this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAINLESS-STEEL-SS-CATBACK-4-TIP-MUFFLER-CAT-BACK-EXHAUST-SYSTEM-97-01-RC-RC2-/170814215536?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &fits=Model%3ATiburon|Year%3A1997&hash=item27c5521 570&vxp=mtr and a good long (28in+) stainless glasspack, and buy a cat with the PROPER load capacity (I can't remember but mine is something like <4,000lbs) (summitracing), good muffler in the rear. Have an exhaust shop TIG weld it all together.

Buy an AEM Dryflow WAI (not CAI). Try getting your intake ported and polished. Also, someone on here and the British forums was selling a 65mm Throttlebody somewhere: http://hyundaicoupeclub.co.uk/sales-...ssories-parts/

Forget a bodykit. That was so 13 years ago. Keep it clean.

They don't make chips for our cars. I'm not sure what you can do about injectors... I should probably think about that myself :/

Wow thanks for the info. I'll have to process this all. I agree that some types of kits are "old school" but I think that the one I like is clean which is why I chose it, I still may not get it...we'll see.

quick question, why a WAI (i assume this is the same as a Short Ram Intake or SRI) and not a CAI?

I myself have an SRI / WAI but people always tell me to get a CAI. it's the first time i've heard someone suggest getting a WAI for their tib.

just a honest question, i have no intention of flame-baiting :)

I prefer short air do I can still drive in inclimate weather so that's not a problem. I was looking at OBX headers and cat back systems, how do those sound does anyone have them?

Weapon R intakes are junk and a waste of money. Get either an injen or AEM cold air intake. If you're worried about sucking up water into the engine, get a by-pass valve.

As for the exhaust, get a good universal muffler (like the Borla), then go to an exhaust shop and have them install 2.25" or 2.5" piping from the cat back to the muffler. It's alot cheaper than most people realize.

Thanks for the input. What exactly makes WR junk? I always thought they were a premium brand.

Warm Air Intake/Short Ram Intake are the same thing, but I tend to think that a WAI has a longer pipe. I cut my CAI so the filter goes below the battery tray. Although a CAI offers colder air/more power, WHY have a dirty filthy clogged filter every month? Sure, the fenderguard blocks it, ok it doesn't get air then! Not to mention, it gets wet in the rain... I just cut my intake and it's fine, doesn't move, it's clean and easy to remove to wash.

AEM bypass valves are pretty useless and likely a waste of money. At least it was for me.

OBX headers tend to crack near the bolts. Once they're cracked, you get leaks and it costs a lot to fix. Email these guys (Bill) http://kfxperformance.com/ixxocart/c...ine-256-1.html and see if he's still around, and still would be able to send you some equal length headers. Good quality and price. Last I heard he wasn't active any longer, but send him a message.

This kit?

Eh it's not the worst, but still a kit nonetheless. You'll spend hundreds on buying it, hundreds more painting it, and in a few months it'll have cracked, flaked, and chipped.

Skittle_Power 04-04-2012 04:14 PM

Yeah that looks like it. Is like to find one simple and clean that really compliments the curves.

HKC, thanks for the info :)

Skittles, try looking at the Carcept bodykit. it's the best kit for the tib imho.
