Default 03 Tib alternator problem

So the alternator in my car died. I replaced it with the only one AutoZone said they carry for it. The one I took off had two prongs in the plugin but the one they have only has one. They were confused, but said the one they have will work. Less than 24 hours later, all my electronics quit working while driving. Car won't start back up. The AutoZone alt is 110a. Not sure about the one I took off. What do you guys think? 03 Tiburon GT 2.7 v6.

I recently replaced the alternator on my 03 GK V6 and the one I used is a carquest brand and it fits both beta and delta engines.

From what I was able to find online, it looks like I need the 95amp. Which seemingly no parts store has. I found a couple bone yards that have them though.

Rockauto.com has the 95amp under the 2.0 and the 110amp for the 2.7. I will check which one I got from Advance Auto. And I think I paid like $90 for it after some online cupons and core exchange which was $1xx.00 cheaper than the one I got from O'Reillys for my RD2 6-7 months ago.

WHY would you ever leave with a part that is OBVIOUSLY not the correct part? The parts house counter jockeys are as often as not completely clueless. You have to know what you need before you go buying parts.

I hope you just need a fresh charge on your battery but I also hope this will be a lesson to you:

Get the right part.

If no-one else, a dealer or junkyard will have it.

Yeah, got the right part from the yard. The AutoZone guys were baffled when I told them they sold the wrong one and that they don't sell the correct one. Oh and yes...hard lesson learned.

Can't tell you how many times the vatozone parts guy puts a part in front of me and it's the wrong part, or better yet: A USED wrong part they are trying to sell as new! Even happened to me at a Napa store.

Just be wary when purchasing parts at a parts store. Just because they are a brick and mortar supposedly selling new parts, they may not be the right part or even a NEW part!
