Im guessing it would take alot and it wouldnt be worth it but I wonder whats involved with taking an engine out of the new Sonatas with direct injection and dropping it into mine. Im sure ECU and tranny are different but it would be a cool project to take on if I had the money.
Its probably the same work as dropping a v6 engine from a gk into an rd tib. Not worth it and the money could be spent elsewhere I guess.

It'll be a lot more work.
The new ECU is a CAN ECU, so a lot of things are controlled by the ECU that aren't on our older cars. I don't remember every last thing, but it can be almost everything in the car that is controlled by the CAN ECU.
I'm trying to track down how much work it would be to run the DI engine on a standalone. I would opt for the turbo DI Sonata engine though with 274hp.
