i was looking over the wiki, and its unclear to me if the first gen AWD santa fe had the 2.0 beta motor or was it only the delta that got the AWD?

It got the 2.4L I4 Sonata Base motor. It's not a beta...I can't remember what greek letter Hyundai called it. Theta jumps to mind but I might not be correct there.

Just for giggles I did a search at car-part.com and got only these results:
A.T., 2.4L (4 cyl)
A.T., 2.7L (6 cyl), 4WD
A.T., 2.7L (6 cyl), FWD
M.T.
A.T., 3.5L (6 cyl), 4WD
A.T., 3.5L (6 cyl), FWD
Clicked on the Manual and it seems that was FWD and only for the 2.4L which (iirc) was the Sirius, not a beta.
Now the first gen Tucson I know has a 5-speed manual with AWD for a beta2.

'awd'
its a pretty terrible awd system. iirc some guy on exd.com is doing a tucson swap onto his exd. the rear subframes are actually quite similar from what i could see. i don't know how far he got, or if its still going ahead. an FR elantra would be amazing.

Which makes sense because I recall them saying the SUVs were based on the Elantra's platform.
There was a drag Accent build a while back that used a DSM subframe in the rear as well stating a lot of similarity in those platforms so its far from impossible. But the amount of work would be staggering.

hmmm, im sure there is no 2.0 beta AWD, cuz if there ever was, someone here would have HAD to have done a monster all wheel drive XD elantra or RD tiburon.... but then again, if the delta 2.7 AWD exists.... why hasnt anyone ever done up a sick all wheel drive GK ??
random i think your right Theta sounds familiar
tibbi, so how about mounting points on that beta2 in the first gen Tucson ? are they similar to beta1's ?
wheel of steel, see thats what im wondering about... gonna go troll exd.com and see what i can see.
someone here has to do an AWD RD or XD sooner or later. with genuine hyundai parts, not a hybrid 4g63 awd in a hyundai body...
